Successfully completed the 16th meeting of the NATO M&S COE Steering Committee
Rome – Despite the challenging circumstances affecting the world today, on the 20th and 21st April 2021, the NATO M&S COE convened its 16th Steering Committee meeting at the Centre Control Room of the “Adriano De Cicco” Compound in Cecchignola, Rome.
Quickly adapting to the “new normal” we are living in, for the first time ever, the meeting was organized in a hybrid modality, ensuring full compliance with physical distancing measures to safeguard attendees, as well as maximum inclusivity for those joining remotely. The meeting brought together representatives from all NATO M&S COE Sponsoring Nations – the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, and the United States of America – as well as observers from Romania, Sweden, the United States, and the Programme Development Branch COE of the Headquarters of the Supreme Allied Command Transformation (HQ SACT).
During the meeting, directed by the chairman Colonel Claudio Icardi, the Nations discussed: the new NATO M&S COE organizational chart, the Centre’s Program of Work (POW) for 2021, and the successful result of the recent Periodic Assessment.
During his introductory message, Colonel Michele TURI, the NATO M&S COE Director, stated that “other Nations and Partners have expressed their interest in joining or collaborating with us, like Romania, Sweden and the NATO NMSG-CSO (Modelling and simulation Group – Collaboration Support Office). Our Center is different from others COEs because we are focused on a specific area to develop new concepts and capabilities, conduct experimentation, use innovative technologies and support others NATO entities through technical capabilities and subject matter expertise”.
The next Steering Committee Meeting is planned by the end of 2021.
