COE NATO M&S Basic Course 2021 – 2nd Session - NATO Modelling & Simulation Centre of Excellence

The NATO Modelling & Simulation Centre of Excellence (NATO M&S COE) conducted the 11th edition of the NATO M&S Basic Course from 9-12 November 2021.

The Course, accredited by the NATO Joint Force Trainer as “NATO APPROVED,” is included in the NATO Education and Training Opportunities Catalogue. It is open to NATO and PfP Nations and Organizations. The course objective is to deliver basic information about Modelling & Simulation use in the military context.
Traditionally, these courses have been conducted at our Centre in Rome. Recently, we have made this course available virtually allowing for increased participation resulting in 35 students coming from 10 different countries.

Lieutenant Colonel Brad Koerner, the NATO M&S COE Deputy Director, stated that, “Our courses support the NATO Training & Education pillar. In particular this course allows people to learn the history of M&S, the differences between Live, Virtual, and Constructive simulations and other topics to provide a foundation to those attending. We are conducting these courses virtually, but hope to bring them back to in person instruction later on.”

Il Centro, ubicato presso la caserma “Adriano De Cicco” in Cecchignola sede del VI Reparto dello Stato Maggiore della Difesa, funge da catalizzatore per la trasformazione attraverso il coinvolgimento della NATO e delle singole nazioni che ne fanno parte , università, industria, entità operative e di formazione, migliorando il collegamento in rete dei sistemi di M&S della NATO e nazionali, la cooperazione tra Nazioni e altri enti attraverso la condivisione di informazioni M&S e sviluppi e funge da fonte internazionale di competenze per la trasformazione nel relativo dominio.
